CONTEXT

I was part of the Design & Media team for the 9th edition of TEDxIITHyderabad. This year’s theme was “Tatv”, which means the fundamental elements. Our job as a team was to bring the event to life visually through posters, media, stage design, and the official event website.

For me, the website was a chance to take full ownership of a digital product designing, building, and publishing it from scratch. It was also my first time working with Framer and experimenting with Spline for 3D elements.

PROBLEM :

TEDx events usually have their own identity every year. Our challenge was to create a website that:

  • Matched the theme Tatv while staying aligned with TEDx’s global branding.

  • Gave people all the event info (speakers, schedule, tickets, venue) in a clean, simple way.

  • Looked engaging and modern enough to reflect the creative spirit of TEDx.

We had limited time, & I was the only one working on the website side so I had to balance speed with design quality.

PROCESS I FOLLOWED:

I followed a simple process: starting with research and Figma design, then moving to Framer for building, adding the Tatv theme with Spline, iterating with the team, and finally polishing the site for mobile and content updates.

RESEARCH & REFERENCES

I began by exploring our Old website as well as other TEDx websites and official website to see how they structured content. Most of them followed a clear hierarchy: About - Theme - Speakers - Tickets - Contact.

This gave me a solid foundation for our own site.

DESIGNING IN FIGMA

Before jumping into Framer, I created the first version of the website design in Figma. This helped me experiment with layouts, typography, and color choices without worrying about interactions. It was also easier to share with the team and get early feedback.

Building in Framer

Once the design was approved, I started recreating it in Framer. Since it was my first time, I had to figure out how to translate static Figma frames into responsive layouts and interactive elements. This step was all about learning Framer’s system while keeping the design consistent.

Bringing in Tatv

Our theme “Tatv” had to feel alive on the site. I used Spline 3D elements and embed it in Framer to reflect the energy of the theme, while still keeping the site simple and fast to load.

FINAL TOUCHES

Throughout the process, I worked closely with the Design & Media team. We adjusted how speakers were presented, synced colors and fonts with posters and stage design, and made sure the website felt like part of the larger TEDx identity.

I optimized for mobile too (since most of our audience browsed on phones), refined transitions, and published the website on official TEDxIITHyderabad Website Successfully

Thank you for your valuable time :)
